Wie vielleicht ja einige mitbekommen haben, war ich zwischen meinem Masterabschluss und dem Berufsstart nochmal 3 Monate im Ausland, genauer gesagt fast ausschlie\u00dflich in Indonesien. Nach einigen erholsamen Urlaubtagen war ich nat\u00fcrlich viel f\u00fcr das Mantahari Projekt im Einsatz! Neben Besuchen bei der Marine Megafauna Foundation, Gespr\u00e4chen mit potenziellen neuen Partnern, Beach Cleanups und ganz viel Tauchen in Komodo, habe ich auch eine Woche bei Shannon, einem ehemaligen Kollegen aus Komodo vorbeigeschaut. Wir haben damals zusammengearbeitet, jetzt leitet er mit seiner Freundin Marie<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Das besondere an diesem Shop ist, dass der S\u00fcden Lomboks in Sachen Tauchtourismus wenig bis gar nicht erschlossen ist. Die zwei anderen Tauchshops sind wenig frequentiert und hielten sich meist an die wenigen erkundeten Gebiete. Ich hatte etwas Gl\u00fcck mit dem Timing, genau in der Woche, als ich da war, wurde die Stra\u00dfe von Alas das erste Mal \u00fcberquert mit dem Tauchboot, um neue Divesites vor der K\u00fcste Sumbawas auszukundschaften. Gleich am zweiten Tag war ich mit an Board und wir haben spektakul\u00e4re Steilw\u00e4nde, unber\u00fchrte Riffe und eine wirklich gesunde Unterwasserwelt vorgefunden. Trotz des nicht weit entfernten Problem-Hafens \u201eTanjung Luar\u201c, welcher einer der gr\u00f6\u00dften weltweiten Handelspunkte f\u00fcr legale und illegale Haifischerei ist (f\u00fcr weitere Infos: hier klicken<\/a>)<\/em> war eine wirklich intakte Population an Riffhaien zu sehen. Gro\u00dfartige Korallen Formationen, Macro Kreaturen, soweit das Auge reicht und d ann eben\u2026 ja. Mantas.<\/span><\/div>\n

Shannon hatte von der Oberfl\u00e4che durch Zufall den Schatten eines Mantas gesehen, als sie das erste Mal vor Ort waren, hatten aber keine Flaschen mehr zum Tauchen. Diesmal sollte die Gegend erstmalig betaucht werden \ud83d\ude0a Wir haben uns einen Plan zurechtgelegt, die richtige Str\u00f6mung abgewartet und bei der<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Topographie der Landschaft den richtigen Riecher gehabt. Es war ein unfassbares Gef\u00fchl sozusagen \u201emitten im Nirgendwo\u201c einen riesigen scheuen Schatten in der Ferne zu sehen. Anders als bei den an Tauchtourismus gew\u00f6hnten Mantas in Komodo oder Nusa Penida mussten wir uns hier wirklich anschleichen unter Wasser, um einen genaueren Blick erhaschen zu k\u00f6nnen. W\u00e4hrend des Tauchgangs an dem vor Leben pulsierenden und extrem gesunden Riff haben wir 4-5 verschiedene Riff Mantas gesehen und zuletzt konnte ich auch noch den wertvollen \u201eBelly Shot\u201c ergattern. Das ist ein Foto der Bauchunterseite von Mantarochen. Durch deren einzigartige Musterung k\u00f6nnen sie wie mit einem Fingerabdruck in einer Datenbank registriert und unterschieden werden, um Best\u00e4nde und Wanderrouten im Auge zu habe<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

n. Und siehe da, nach dem Upload des Fotos in das Verzeichnis wurde mir mitgeteilt: Es ist ein \u201eneuer\u201c Manta! Das hat uns etwas \u00fcberrascht. Es gibt Rochen, die\u00a0 <\/span>sowohl im Komodo Nationalpark, als auch vor Nusa Penida schon fotografiert wurden. Sumbawa liegt genau <\/span>dazwischen, daher hatten wir den Verdacht, dass es sich um einen der wandernden Rochen handelt. Dass es jedoch eventuell auch dort eine sich dauerhaft aufhaltende Population geben k\u00f6nnte, w\u00e4ren gro\u00dfartige Nachrichten. Nat\u00fcrlich m\u00fcssen hierf\u00fcr noch viele Manta-B\u00e4uche fotografiert werden, aber ein Anfang ist <\/span>gemacht. Und wir haben mit “Alas” den ersten jemals registrierten Sumbawa-Manta direkt adoptiert \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/div>\n

Vor lauter Euphorie und Freude, dass es f\u00fcr den Tauch Shop in Lombok jetzt auch Manta-Dives geben wird, hat mir Shannon die Ehre \u00fcberlassen einen Namen f\u00fcr die Divesite auszusuchen. Seitdem hei\u00dft dieser wundersch\u00f6ne Fleck unter der Oberfl\u00e4che zwischen Lombok und Sumbawa: MANTAHARI REEF<\/span><\/div>\n

Das ganze Thema von lokalen Mantarochen in der N\u00e4he einer der gef\u00e4hrlichsten Fischereih\u00e4fen ist nat\u00fcrlich sensibel, darum haben wir uns geeinigt den genauen Ort nicht bekannt zu geben.<\/span><\/div>\n
