Bisher unbekanntes Riff entdeckt:<\/h5>\n

Forscher:innen sind auf ein intaktes Korallenriff vor der s\u00fcdpazifischen Insel Tahiti gesto\u00dfen! Es soll eines der gr\u00f6\u00dften Riffe der Welt sein, und \u2013 was besonders ist \u2013 von den Folgen der Klimakrise weitestgehend verschont. Die globale Erw\u00e4rmung setzt Korallen weltweit zu, das bekannteste Beispiel ist wohl das Great Barrier Reef vor Australien. Nicht so das neu entdeckte Riff, das in 30 \u2013 75 Metern Tiefe liegt und drei Kilometer lang ist. Die meisten Riffe liegen zwischen 0 und 30 Metern, wo die Erw\u00e4rmung zur Korallenbleiche f\u00fchrt. Die Korallen vor Tahiti zeigen keine w\u00e4rmebedingten Sch\u00e4den auf.<\/p>\n

Transportrouten zum Schutz der Wale ge\u00e4ndert:<\/h5>\n

Eine Gruppe aus Umwelt- und Tierschutzorganisationen konnte eine der gr\u00f6\u00dften Reedereien dazu \u00fcberzeugen, zuk\u00fcnftig ihre Transportroute zu ver\u00e4ndern \u2013 zum Schutz der Pottwale im Mittelmeer. Auf der bisherigen Route vor der westgriechischen K\u00fcste kollidierten die gro\u00dfen Schiffe immer wieder mit den Tieren, die oftmals in die Propeller gerieten. Laut der NGO-Koalition k\u00f6nnte die Routen\u00e4nderung f\u00fcr Wale das Risiko, von Schiffen gerammt zu werden, um 75% senken.<\/p>\n

Hawaii verbietet Haifang – Weltpremiere<\/h5>\n

Seit Anfang 2022 ist in hawaiianischen Gew\u00e4ssern das Fischen von Haien verboten. Hawaii ist der erste US-amerikanische Staat, der auf diese Weise den Haifang verbietet. Zuk\u00fcnftig ist das wissentliche Fangen und T\u00f6ten von jeglichen Hai-Arten hier strafbar. Haie sind extrem wichtig f\u00fcr gesunde Ozeane, da sie den Bestand an Raubfischen kontrollieren, und halten die Meere sauber, etwa in dem sie sich zum Teil von Tierkadavern ern\u00e4hren und so den Ausbruch von Krankheiten vermeiden. Vielerorts ist das nat\u00fcrliche Gleichgewicht im Meer, f\u00fcr das gesunde Haipopulationen sorgen, bereits stark gest\u00f6rt, da viele Haie gefangen werden \u2013 sowohl als Beifang als auch gezielt. Schutzr\u00e4ume f\u00fcr die Meeresr\u00e4uber sind deshalb wahnsinnig wichtig!<\/p>\n
